Over the past few months, the Rogue has been adding a few new whiskies to our shelves. To keep up with the latest whiskies we would highly commend adding our whisky app to your phone or tablet. You can find and download the app from Google Play or the Apple store by searching Rogue's Whiskies. You will find close to 900 whiskies on the app with tasting notes, abv, a photo of the bottle, and the price at the Rogue. A new bourbon called Angel's Envy was added recently
Tickets for the 2016 Edition of the NB Spirits Festival are now available. The Friday night Showcase tickets are flying with over 2/3's sold in just 12 days! I would not delay picking up your tickets to avoid dissapointment. We hate to see our friends miss out.
The Festival begins on Tuesday Nov.22nd with a Rum Dinner hosted by our good friends at Flor de Cana Rums. The four course dinner features an aged Flor de Cana rum with each course. The Brand Ambassador, Jeffrey Meyers, will guide us through each course paired perfectly with an aged Flor de Cana rum.. The dinner includes a Rum highball or cocktail upon arrival, the four course dinner (check out the menu on our website www.raiseyourspirits.ca ) along with the 7 yr, 12yr, 18 yr and 25 yr flor de Cana Rum. You will also receive a complimentary cab ride to a greater Fredericton area for the incredible price of $75.00 Taxes and Gratuity included!!! This Dinner is a must for any rum enthusiast.
Nov.23.16 will feature the 8th NB Spirits Festival Whisky Dinner hosted by Martine Nouet of Islay Scotland and Stuart Brown of Diageo. We are delighted to welcome back Martine to our annual Whisky Dinner. We are extremely pleased to launch the North American release of Martine's newest Cookbook "A Table". We are delighted to welcome Diageo as the Whisky Sponsor for the 2016 dinner. The menu will be released very soon. Watch the Festival website for all the news and updates. The dinner will include 5 courses, drinks apon arrival, awhisky with each course, and a free cab ride home in the Greater Fredericton area all for the greta price of $125.00 including taxes and gratuities!!

The Rogue will celebrate Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in grand style from Thursday Sept15th until Sept 17th with the return of "The Terry Whalen Band". The Band takes the stage nightly at 21:30 pm until 1:00 am. The band is an ECMA winner and has a great following all over at Atlantic Canada. No Cover Charge all weekend!! Stop in to see Terry and the guys and enjoy some grat blues.
I am pleased to announce Pierre and I will be hosting a Single Malt Whisky Tasting at the York St Liquor Store on Wednesday Sept 14th at 6:30 pm. Tickets will be $40.00 and available at the York St Liquor store only. We will be tasting a wonderful selection of Single Whiskies with our topic to be the affects on wood finishes on whisky.Pierre and I will select whiskies that have been finished in different types of oak casks and the overall effect it has on the final outcome of the whisky.
In celebration of the Rogue's 25th Anniversary our Friends at Picaroons brewery created a new and exclusive draft to mark our amazing milestone. After a month long contest name the new brew the lucky choice was "Parcel of Rogues"
To mark the occasion of our second anniversay launch of the "Parcel of Rogues" we have decided to feature our own brew with a Special Happy Hour Price for a Large pint all day every day until the end of February 2016. "Parcel" as we have come to call it, is a wonderful Amber ale with a full rich mouthfeel. It is not heavy but more creamy and refreshing. It is also brewed at 4.6% abv a bit lighter than most Craft brews. We tempt you to try a mug of our on going history. It also pairs well with a Speyside whisky like Glenrothes, Glenlivet or Glenfiddich. We love it paired with a Rogue burger awesome!
As part of the Frostival celebration (https://www.facebook.com/FrederictonFrostival/) the Rogue will be hosting a Whisky Tasting on Saturday Jan23rd at 3:00 pm. The tasting will be hosted by The New Brunswick Spirits Festival organizers Frank Scott and Pierre Mullin The tasting will be strictly limited to 12 seats. The theme will be "The Whisky Regions of Scotland". We have selected 6 wonderful 18 year old whiskies for the nosing & tasting. From the Lowlands, Auchentoshan 18 yr, from the Speyside two whisky giants , the Glenfiddich 18 yr and The Glenlivet 18 yr, from the Highlands, Tomatin 18 yr, from Islay, Laphroaig 18 yr and from Orkney, Highland Park 18 yr
We will be pairing each whisky with a cheese.

NB Spirits Festival Update
I am pleased to report the NB Spirits Festival product list is now available for viewing on line. Please visit the Festival's web page for all the details. www.raiseyourspirits.ca The Festival has an amazing selection of whiskies, rums and spirits to please everyone.
I have been pouring over the list on what to purchase this year. It has made for some very tough decesions. I definitely plan to pick up a bottle of the special Festival bottlings from Hart Bros and Balblair. The Hart Bros bottling is 15 year old blended malt finished in a Port wood pipe. It has been bottled at 50% abv. A wonderful nose and mouth feel. The Balblair was distilled in 1997. It is from the very last cask of the 97 distillation. It has been bottled at cask strength. I look forwad to sampling this one on the night of the festival.

We are pleased to announce a New Event on Saturday Nov.21st to mark our 20th Anniversary of the New Brunswick Spirits Festival. Join us in once in a life time opportunity to sample some extremely rare Dallas Dhu whiskies.
Canadian Whisky writer and author Davin de Kergommeaux a certified Malt Maniac and trained sommelier who has been analyzing, writing, and talking about whisky, as an independent commentator, for more than a dozen years will host the tasting. Whisky aficionados may have read Davin's commentaries and tasting notes in... Scotch Whisky Review, Whisky Magazine, Whisky Advocate Magazine, various lifestyle magazines, or many places on the web including MaltManiacs.org. In the fall of 2011, he was appointed Canadian Contributing Editor to Whisky Magazine. Davin will host a Vertical Nosing and Tasting of Dallas Dhu whiskies. Dallas Dhu distillery closed it's doors in 1983 and today is a museum. Bottlings of Dallas Dhu are extremely difficult to find anywhere. Tickets will go on sale Oct.13th at the Lunar Rogue only.This event will sell out quickly.
The Rogue is pleased to present ECMA award winner "The Terry Whalen Band" from Mirimichi NB for the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival this year. This is the first time they have appeared at the Rogue and we are extremely delighted to welcome them.
The band will be preforming on Thursday Sept.17th,Friday Sept.18th and Saturday Sept.19th from 9:30 pm until closing time. There will be "No Cover" charge all weekend, please stop in and check them out for a set or two.These guys are good!

Whisky For the Holidays
Every year I am asked to recommend a whisky as a gift for a Christmas present. Not as easy as it sounds as everyone has different tastes when it comes to Whisky. Not always knowing if someone appreciates a whisky with smoke, peat, sherry, vanilla, etc can be challenging to make a recommendation they might like in the end. If you have a rought idea of what they like now can be a big help in deciding what to select. The price point you can afford always comes into play for most of us. So that said here are a few of my recommendations and price points. Single Malt under $50.00 in NB It is not easy anymore but I like Aberlour 10, Aberfeldy 12 and Strathisla 12. They are all very good whiskies for the price.

We are please to announce that on Tuesday Nov.17th the First Rum Dinner will be held at the Delta Fredericton hosted by El Dorado Rum Ambassador Stefanie Holt from London UK. This 4 course dinner will include a selected El Dorado Rum with each course. You can find the entire menu on the Festival website www.raiseyourspirits.ca . The price of $75.00 includes all the taxes, grats, and rums. This will be a not to miss event if you are a lover of rums or new to the drink.
